In compliance with the Alabama State Law (Alabama Accountability Act), Jefferson County Schools would like to inform you of the upcoming December 2016 release of the A-F State Report Card, so that you may better understand the purpose and overall information included.
The indicators will be released over a 2 year period; therefore, an overall grade cannot and should not be calculated and or communicated. As a school district, we are excited that 85% of our students in grades 4-8 had learning gains. We are continuously looking at instructional practices that impact student learning, so that 100% of our students experience learning gains.
Schools without a grade 12 will have information reported in the following categories:
Learning Gains
• Individual student performance from one year to the next
• Includes data for students in grades 4-8 in reading and math
• Reflects the impact of instruction
Student Achievement and Learning Gains
• Grade level performance
• Full academic year students at tested grade (3-8, 10) in reading and math
• Provides information of where students are in terms of grade-level performance and expectations
