This is the image for the news article titled JEFCOED Graduate Wins EMMY for DocumentaryTimothy Alexander is a 2007 graduate of Erwin High School (Now Center Point High School) and has traveled a circuitous road to fame as an inspiring motivational speaker.
As a freshman being taken to juvenile court, Timothy was given some sound advice by an SRO officer and a local policeman. They counseled,”Son…get your act in gear or this is how you will spend the rest of your life.”
As a sophomore, his house burned. When he was a junior his brother died in an automobile accident. As a senior he was in an automobile accident that left him a paraplegic. Each one of these sad experiences just propelled him into stronger resolve to make something of himself and become an EMMY winner for a documentary about his life. This is the first ever JEFCOED graduate to win an EMMY award.
As a senior when he was mulling over numerous scholarship offers, the automobile accident forever changed his life. Timothy was the front and center leader and a community inspiration for saving the football program at UAB a few years ago.
At the board meeting February 23, he thanked the board for helping him turn his life around. “When I was in trouble, you still believed in me through my darkest days. You taught me and constantly reminded me that I could be resilient. You know your kids and the homes they come from. You are about it, involved in our lives, and are role modeling to us students that it is our personal responsibility to be great. I thank you for your tremendous support.”
